Pack of Professional Practice Possibilities

Pack of Professional Practice Possibilities

Professional practice research involves wicked problems in often messy work-based practice. This can result in advanced learning that articulates the learners’ professional framework of practice.

The Pack of Professional Practice Possibilities is a pack of cards that are designed to highlight and inform the decisions made by professional practice learners.

The cards were initially developed for Capable NZ Otago Polytechnic’s Doctor of Professional Practice, Master of Professional Practice and Bachelor of Leadership for Change

We’ve had lots of requests for the cards from practice-led researchers from all over, so we’ve made them available via Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike (CC BY-NC-SA 2.0).

You can order a cardstock printed set at cost by emailing postgrad@capablenz.ac.nz.

Or you can download and print your own set below.

Guide

  • Print the cards double-sided, preferably in A3 and in colour. Cut the cards along the trim marks.
  • Start by sorting the cards into sets (do it into colour first).
  • Choose the card for each set that aligns with your thinking.  Starting with red, follow the rainbow.  There are no strict rules - you can combine or create new options. Black cards have no options but you should be able to fill in the blanks with your own version (do it in pencil - these things will develop  over time).
  • There is an explanation on the back of many cards.
  • The cards have small assembly labels which by careful arrangement you should be able to create your overall professional practice research journey.

We imagine that these cards will be useful throughout the Professional Practice research journey but especially during the development of the Learning Agreement.

These cards are in “permanent beta”.  We would love to see/hear of your experiences in using them.
